Social Skills Groups
We’re excited to offer small-group social skills sessions available both in person in Santa Cruz and virtually for children and young adults. These groups provide structured, supportive opportunities for kids and teens to practice connecting with peers and build real-life friendship skills in a fun and welcoming environment. Groups are thoughtfully formed based on developmental level rather than age alone and are led by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst who is a certified PEERS® trainer through UCLA. Our approach is natural, play-based, and strengths-based, helping participants feel more confident, capable, and successful in their social world.
Building Connection Through Practice
We’re currently gathering interest to help determine group size, scheduling needs, and location preferences. If you think your child would benefit from this kind of support, we invite you to fill out our quick interest form or reach out directly with questions. We’ll contact you as soon as group opportunities are available.

PEERS® for adolescents
PEERS® for Adolescents is the only truly evidence-based social skills program originally developed at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. It has been rigorously researched and shown to improve real-world social skills, confidence, and peer relationships for teens, especially those with autism, ADHD, anxiety, and other social communication challenges.

Unlike many social groups, PEERS® is a structured, research-supported curriculum that teaches practical skills teens can use right away, including:
-
starting and maintaining conversations
-
joining groups and making friends
-
handling teasing and rejection
-
resolving conflicts
-
using humor appropriately
-
understanding social cues
-
texting and online communication
-
planning social activities
Skills are taught through clear lessons, role-plays, and real-life practice. Parents and caregivers attend sessions at the same time so they can learn how to coach and support these skills at home.
What makes PEERS® stand out is its proven results. Research shows that teens who complete the program make lasting gains in social communication and friendship skills. Families leave with practical tools, confidence, and strategies that help teens build meaningful, long-term relationships.
